Sandra’s successful career spans three decades. She served her apprenticeship in senior level roles in blue chip companies such as Fisons, Thomas Cook and Smith & Nephew. She also worked as a Planning Director for a major advertising agency on accounts such as Bovis Homes, Twinings and public sector clients.

Since the late 1980s, she has acquired specialist expertise in strategy and marketing in both the independent and the public health and care sectors.

While she was Marketing Director for McCarthy & Stone, a leading provider of sheltered housing solutions, she developed a deep interest in the care of older people.

She then became Director of Marketing at the Harley Street Clinic, a major cardiac hospital then owned by General Healthcare Group, where she was recognised as a leading expert in the independent sector. She was later promoted to Strategic Development Manager for the whole Group, responsible for initiating and co-ordinating marketing activity across the UK and for identifying new market opportunities.

After being headhunted into BUPA, she worked with the Hospital and Care Home divisions for several years before becoming an independent consultant in the year 2000.

Sandra has an MBA from Henley Management College, with a distinction for her dissertation on customer satisfaction in independent hospitals. She also holds the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and is a Chartered Marketer.

She is an experienced speaker and a prominent member of Toastmasters International, the internationally recognised communication and leadership organisation.

  • Researching a major market overview of cancer services for BMI Healthcare
  • Producing a comprehensive market assessment and feasibility study for renal dialysis provision for Nuffield Hospitals
  • Exploring the views and preferences of service users and health and social care professionals to determine the feasibility of a new mental health facility for Priory Healthcare
  • Conducting a major study into strategic issues in older people’s long term care for P&G Professional, a blue chip manufacturing company targeting that sector
  • Working with the Trust’s communications consultancy to deliver an internal communications audit and strategy for Nottinghamshire NHS Healthcare Trust, the largest mental health NHS Trust in Europe
  • Managing customer satisfaction measurement programmes for care home groups
  • Determining market opportunities for 3G mobile communications technology in the NHS for Hutchison 3G
  • Researching a market overview of the veterinary care market for SPVS, a professional veterinary association to assist vets to improve their business planning
  • Conducting in-depth telephone interviews with Clinical Directors of Welsh NHS Hospital Trusts to assess progress on the Access 2009 Project for the NHS Delivery and Support Unit.
